The Nature of Change
Therapy Change
If you’ve ever watched a butterfly emerge from its cocoon, you know it’s not some graceful, magical event. It’s a struggle. That little creature wriggles, twists, and pushes its way out, looking like it might not make it. But here’s the amazing part: if someone tried to help by slicing open the cocoon, the butterfly wouldn’t survive. The struggle is what strengthens its wings so it can fly.
Humans aren’t all that different.
When people come to therapy, they’re often feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or broken open by something painful—infidelity, grief, trauma, stress, or just the heavy sense that life isn’t working anymore. It’s uncomfortable. Uncertain. And it can feel like everything inside is coming undone.
But like the butterfly, that “coming undone” may be the very beginning of real change.
Change is Hard and Therapy Is the Cocoon
The cocoon isn’t a trap—it’s a safe space. It’s where transformation happens, hidden away from the outside world, held in warmth and stillness. I see therapy in much the same way. It’s a place where you can lay it all down—your fears, your sadness, your hopes—and not be judged. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to show up.
In the safety of the therapy space, you’re allowed to take your time. To go through your own process. To unravel what’s been holding you back and discover what needs to grow stronger. You’re not doing it alone—I’m there with you, gently guiding, supporting, and honoring your courage.
The Struggle Build Strength When Change is Hard
We tend to treat struggle like something shameful, like a sign of failure. But it’s often the most painful moments that hold the potential for the biggest breakthroughs. The butterfly has to push its way out of the cocoon because that effort builds the muscles it needs to fly.
Therapy asks something similar of you. You might cry. You might face things you’ve buried for years. You might feel raw or uncertain at times. But every honest conversation, every risk you take in showing up fully, builds your strength. You become more resilient, more aware, more you.
And I’ll say this: people are stronger than they realize. The fact that you’re even considering therapy tells me that something deep inside you is ready to change—even if part of you is scared.
Therapy Change Means Risk… But Also Possibility
Change can feel terrifying. Even when life is hard, it’s familiar—and the unknown can be intimidating. But what if stepping into the unknown is exactly what you need? What if this painful chapter is the beginning of something much bigger?
I’ve been doing this work for a long time, and I never stop being amazed at the transformations I get to witness. Honestly, it feels like I work in a butterfly garden. I see people come in weighed down by pain, self-doubt, or fear—and I get to watch them emerge, slowly but surely, into their most authentic, powerful selves. Wings and all.
Ready to Begin?
If something in you is whispering, “It’s time,” then trust that whisper. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to be open to the possibility that change is possible—and that you deserve it.
Therapy can be your cocoon: a safe, quiet place to begin your own metamorphosis. And when the time is right, you’ll emerge stronger, lighter, and more free than you thought possible.
