Trauma is complex, and no two people experience it the same way. To meet the unique needs of every client, I have developed Integrated Trauma Therapy, a holistic approach that draws from some of the most effective trauma-focused methods. This tailored approach combines evidence-based techniques with compassionate care to help you heal, grow, and regain control of your life.

A client with many thoughts and feeling talks as a therapist helps the client integrate what she is experiencing, leading to healing and growth through integrated trauma therapy Austin

Integrated Trauma Therapy Brings Together Elements from Four Proven Approaches, Each Contributing Unique Tools and Perspective

Inner Child Work, Parts Work, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) all help you understand and heal the different parts of your inner world. Inner Child Work focuses on nurturing wounded childhood parts. Parts Work expands this by recognizing that we all have inner “parts” with different roles—some protective, some hurt. IFS is a structured form of Parts Work that sees these parts as a system and helps them work together under the guidance of your core Self. These approaches foster self-compassion, insight, and lasting emotional healing.

Somatic Experiencing Therapy (SE) works through the body’s physical responses to trauma, helping clients gently release stored survival energy without necessarily needing to recount specific memories in detail. SE emphasizes restoring regulation in the nervous system through body awareness and sensation tracking.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT focuses on understanding and restructuring negative thought patterns related to trauma. This approach equips clients with tools to manage stress, reframe their experiences, and regain a sense of safety and control in their daily lives. It’s especially useful for clients who experience guilt, shame, or distorted beliefs tied to their trauma.

Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)
NET helps clients construct a coherent narrative of their life, weaving traumatic events into a broader life story. This process allows individuals to reframe their experiences and reduce the emotional charge of traumatic memories. It provides a sense of coherence and meaning that can be profoundly healing.

How Integrated Trauma Therapy Works

By combining these approaches, Integrated Trauma Therapy offers a personalized and adaptable framework. During our work together, I will:

  • Assess Your Needs: We will discuss your history and goals to determine which techniques best align with your healing process.

  • Tailor the Approach: Depending on your unique experiences, we may focus on one method more heavily or weave together aspects of several approaches.

  • Focus on Empowerment: The goal is not only to reduce trauma symptoms but also to build resilience, self-awareness, and a sense of control over your life.

This therapy is about collaboration and personalization. You are not expected to fit into a rigid protocol; instead, we adapt the therapy to meet you where you are. That might mean focusing on emotional regulation at one stage and processing memories at another.
